Okay guys, I feel really Dumb right now.
I know I have seen this error before but I can’t remember what the fix was.

Trying to install 98se
I have an Asus CUSl2 motherboard with 1ghz Pentium-3

I boot off the Win98 install floppy.
Select to boot with CDROM support
Completes fine
I then switch to CDROM drive letter “D”
Dir and I can see the files on CDROM
I enter D:\Setup
I get this Error message.
“Setup Can’t start in DOS Mode”

What is going on ?……

I tried several 98se Startup disk with the same results ?

Have you tried booting off the CD-ROM itself? If you have and it didn't work, make sure that the disc image you're using is a bootable OEM one. There are bootable ones available for download if for some reason the disc you have isn't one of those (and presuming that you have a valid license key, of course). 😀

I did this once, quite a while back. I feel your pain!

Went to install Win 95 on a machine and would have sworn I had the CD in the drive, nope, Microsoft Plus. 😜
