Hi, i'm new here but i think you guys can help me with this.
I have an IBM Thinkpad T22 with Windows XP installed, and i want to install Windows 98SE on it. The problem is that the DVD-ROM Drive doesn´t work, it doesn't boot from USB and i haven't had any luck booting through PXE. Thanks for reading and in advance for helping

You could get one of those 2.5" ide to usb and just put a copy of your windows 98 cd on there from a modern PC (copy the entire contents to /win98CD/ folder or something. Put it into the thinkpad and install it from disk using a bootable windows 98 floppy.

The thing is that it doesn't have a floppy drive either, what i could do if i had the adapter is plug the HDD into my P4 and install Win98 that way, and then plug it back into the Thinkpad. The problem is that i can't buy that adapter and wanted to see if there are other options

Installing Win98 in another system and then swapping the drive is... a bad idea, what you should do is just copy the installation files, make the drive DOS-bootable (fdisk /mbr, sys), then put the drive in the intended system, and install Win98.

(It's a bit odd how Win98 has the ability to be installed from installation files on the same drive as the destination, but it can...)
