Greetings. I've been a luker for years. Finally I decided to register and post a news I hope you'll like to read.
Two news, actually.
You probably know Hamurabi, the very old text game from late 70s and early 80s. It was a thing in BASIC and early DOS era.
Hamurabi was actually inspired by another game, King of Sumeria, programmed for a DEC minicomputer, and King of Sumeria was in turn inspired by The Sumerian Game, one of the earliest known computer games, the grand father of Strategy, management and simulations games. The Sumerian Game source code was lost somewhere during the 70s but I managed to rebuild it and I released it for free on Steam. You can download it with this link.
Including in the game, you can try the original game (The sumerian game, Suilxr version), King of Sumeria and Hamurabi. You'll see they are very different.
There's more 😁
To rebuild it I studied the available documents, researched for info, reports, newspaper articles, interviews.. and I wrote a book about the Sumerian Game. Since my main language is Italian, I decided to start a KS to translate it. If you want to know more about this very interesting game and maybe support my research, you can check this kickstarter
In the KS I'm also offering as a reward another book: Video Games Stage 2: From 1980 until 1984. it's the second book of a series of 5 about general history of videogames: console, mainframe, computer, handheld, arcades.
You can also get - if you missed them - the first book and Through the Moongate: The story of Richard Garriott, Origin Systems Inc and Ultima.
If you have any questions please ask 😀 I'd be delighted to answer the best I can.
