Hi to all. I plan in a future to refresh my Pentium 3 with new white computer case, but all i`ve found that looks good to me have only 2 slots for cd opening , since they are new of course no place where to mound floppy disk reader.
Are there any conversion adapter out there that would make me install it on CD reader opening?
Regards,
Dado.

Yes there are bracket adapters to mount floppy drives in 5.25" bays. Just recently ordered and used a few, I think they were $8 or so on amazon. YMMV depending on locale.

(edit) no I checked they were $5.50, these exact ones: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HLZXH2

I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O

White case with only 5¼" bays? The Epson SD-800 would be a perfect fit.

Otherwise 3.5"/5.25" bay adapters are easily found or printed.

  • Zenith Z386SX-20, 8MB FPM, Video 7 1024i, Unhoused
  • AOpen AP43, Am5x86-133@160, 1MB L2, 128MB FPM, Stealth III S540 32MB Savage4, SB32
  • ITX-Llama, 3Dfx V3
  • Asus CUV4X-E, P3-933, 512MB PC133, Hercules 3D Prophet II MX 32MB, SB Live!

Its super cool looking stuff, but man so expensive on ebay. Its madness to give so much money for floppy reader. 😀

There are white ones too I think, I went for black because I used them in black cases. If not yeah plastic is easily painted.

Oh ok thanks, i will need to investigate into numbers of pins and stuff to find a right ones. I`m new into terminology, terms about these old machines and connections. Thats why it confuses me a lot which are the right one. 😀
I guess i must examine my motherboard more closely and read a manual further just in case to check each connection.

The brackets themselves have no pins. The floppy connector has 34 pins (2 rows of 17), the IDE connectors 40 pins (2 rows of 20)
