Hello! Has anybody tried to bios mod a x800xt pcie with 1.6ns memories to xtpe? or are volt mods necessary?

Recently someone on a Discord server could not get any overclock from the memories after bios modding a pro to xt pe (or something like that) which was very weird to read given that they too had 1.6ns memories.

But according to the datasheet (K4J55323QF-GC16) turns out that more volts are needed for the memories to run at 600mhz... which is maybe the reason the memories could not get any overclock at all?
Or perhaps the lowest voltage is sometimes enough for 560mhz (which is not quite 600mhz)? Is that actually the case?

Thanks!

IIRC these older cards set the memory voltages via zero ohm strapping resistors on the card itself and not via the BIOS, I think nVidia also used a similar setup. (Only Timings and Speed were set via the bios using the voltage set by the resistor pattern)

X800/X850 never had any sort of software voltmodding.

I must be some kind of standard: the anonymous gangbanger of the 21st century.

so xt to pe is impossible without hard volt modding?

Correct, you would have to locate the resistors that set memory voltage and change them to match the ones found on a XT PE, it shouldn't be too hard to locate them on each card since they both use very similar layouts. I hope you have a microscope soldering station handy, these resistors and their pads are tiny.

I would check google to find out how other did it back in the day and follow their guides.
