In a long overdue clear out I have found an old dual P3 Motherboard (Gigabyte 6VXD7) that needs new memory sockets. They are 168 pin sockets with 4 rows of pins in a staggered pattern. The problem I have is there are apparently 6 versions of the slot. DRAM, SDRAM and UDRAM in both 3.3v and 5v variants. I forgot memory was so complex back then.

I have found and attached a datasheet for the sockets but I am not 100% sure it is correct and would appreciate someone with a better memory (no pun intended) from way back then. They are 3.3v modules this is confirmed by Keyway # 2 being a Type A. However, the manual says the board take SDRAM but Keyway # 1 indicates this is a UDRAM slot.

The board has 4 256MB strips of ECC memory - MT18LSDT3272G-133E1 which also comes up as SDRAM not UDRAM. Also attached is a picture of Keyway # 1.

So is the datasheet wrong or am I missing something?

Thanks all.

OK, problem solved and for the benefit of anyone who chances on this post here is the answer.

My sockets are indeed UDRAM and the reason I couldn't find any is daft, the U stands for unbuffered. When you search for '168 pin unbuffered DRAM sockets' you find plenty of old stock here and there.

Now to get the old ones out without damage to the board...
