I'm not sure if this site is suitable for tech support, so apologies if this isn't the right place for this.

I just installed a new hard drive in my retro Windows 98 PC and did originally set the jumper to slave in preparation. The original main HDD that has Win98 on was in the first bay, I believe. I've now switched them around so the new HDD is in the top bay, and the old in the bottom. Eventually, Win98 will be re-installed on the new one with Win98 SE. I don't believe the new HDD was connected up as I don't have a spare ribbon connector for it yet. Either way, Windows failed to boot up. It sits for ages saying Wait... After some time struggling, I managed to remove the jumper from the new HDD. I believe the jumper in the original HDD is still set to Master. Despite all that, Windows still fails to boot. Looking in the BIOS, it doesn't appear to recognise any HDD. I tried resetting the settings back to default and saving and even tried manually setting it with Enter, but nothing. Primary Master, Primary Slave, Secondary Master, and Secondary Slave are all on Undetected. If I continue to wait it eventually asks me to boot using a Boot disk, but I don't currently have one. 🙁

So I'm a bit stuck as to what to do. I would prefer to return it to how it was before this happened, but I'm not sure if that's possible?
