Hi dege, thanks so much for your wonderful work on dgVoodoo2!
We would like to distribute a few versions of dgVoodoo2 with our game launcher for Project Rubi-Ka, our small, not-for-profit, community-ran project to emulate the game servers of Funcom's 2001 science-fiction MMORPG, Anarchy Online. It's a DirectX 7 game and DX7 support is becoming a little bit unreliable with modern video cards and drivers.
Our launcher does a few small patches to the game client to improve the player experience and we've found that dgVoodoo2 can, for some users, improve performance and reduce the number of crashes, while for other users, it can also cause some crashes - we're fairly certain this is due to hardware issues, rather than any sort of bugs in your code.
What we intend to do is to ship the dgVoodoo2 packages in .zip form with our game launcher and allow the player to select from a drop-down list from a selection of options, these would be as such:
- Latest (recommended)
- v2.83.3
- v2.79.3
- None
We would include attribution in the launcher and include a link to your website of course - as well as instructions for why/when a user should change versions, i.e. if they are experiencing instability
I hope this sounds acceptable to you - please let me know if you have any questions!
Thanks and all the best,
Drake and the Project Rubi-Ka development team
