I hadn't fired up Chuck Yeager's Air Combat for DOS in eons, and decided to give it a whirl again. It's been a real blast, and I just remembered a screenshot that I uploaded many years ago to Facebook of a snippet of the manual from the Macintosh version.

Apparently the Mac version supported multiple monitors. This is an excerpt from the game manual, support for up to *SIX* monitors... this running on a Macintosh Quadra 650 computer BACK IN 1993! WOW! 😀

Hehe, all of them Microsoft Flight Simulator pilots of today with their newfangled multiple monitor setups... BAH 🤣!

Really wish I had an old Mac with multiple monitors to try that out on.

I've done something similar when I was emulating the Hornet Classic and Hornet 2.0 sims, A-10 attack was slightly more problematic running in multi-monitor mode.

Put some videos up on YouTube ages ago: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd7lqc … uWdg8ZiyGNMJW8K

Never recorded a video but, 3 emulated monitors for the mac version of CYAC worked. It actually worked with 4 emulated monitors but after quitting the sim it would properly corrupt the emulated mac hard disk image making it unusable.

Was interesting to get working and fun to fly, but the background desktop was very distracting!

So you can give it an (emulated) try!

That sounds extremely cool! I never knew it was possible to do mult-monitor emulation 😀

I noticed that Qemu had multi-monitor support and so did the sims, I didn't think it was going to work but gave it a whirl anyway and was pleasantly surprised.

Yes, the JF3 video was a demo of Glide passthrough in DOSBox-X to the nGlide wrapper. Quite useful as the graphics card was barely breaking a sweat! I still need to put some time in that sim, I seem to spend all my time getting them to work without actually playing them!

That's quite the impressive career you have there! 😀

Hehe, I am especially proud of my photoshopped pilot photo that I imported into JF3 🤣! 😂

P.S. Here was a pic I had uploaded to Facebook a while back when I was extensively playing the game 😂:

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that the meals on the U.S.N. Peacekeeper aircraft carrier in JetFighter III are rather CRAPPY (just like hospital food, or school lunches) 🤣?!

The game randomizes the carrier galley's menu of meals every day, but they ALWAYS look like CRAP 🤣!

I was wondering about the photo, I couldn't remember it being one of the stock photos, good job there!

This may explain why they have to keep resurrecting pilots, no one else is willing to serve on board with a menu like that! 😀

Hehe, it used to drive me nutz: here I fly a mission and kick royal ass, and then all they serve me is a saucer of peas, a glass of milk, and a slice of bread... BAH! 🤣
