Why don't you give these damaged motherboards to someone who's doing electronics repairs?

The word Idiot refers to a person with many ideas, especially stupid and harmful ideas.

Ok, so, I've read all your suggestions, thank you for sharing them.

I'll have to recheck the box, but I'm sure most of them are very uninteresting. I recall a PCI-e that came with its bigger caps and heatsinks removed, a similar one with badly scratched traces...

I doubt I could get any money from them, honestly.
And actually I'd care more about keeping what could be useful and e-waste above getting $5 back.

BUT, you got me thinking: Las week I found out there is someone in the neighborhood who might be into electronic repairs and who I was thinking to contact and ask he could recap a couple of boards for me.

Maybe he could have some use for what I don't. I hadn't thought about it but I should ask him.

Lets face it, you will _never_ use any of the desoldered components. This isnt the 80s anymore where everything is hard to get.

It depends. Were I live is hard to find or buy anything new. From the hardw I find, and that is destroyed or I dont care about, I extract all useful components, even resistors. 99 % of my stash is made from recovered , tested and classified components. And with that I restore that old hardw I want, and even fix and refix the LED luminaries in my house, and all in between.
The rest, I collect them in bags, then bring it to the recycling center as swap, for they to allow me to search there for the stuff I really want to find. And I bring them five or more times the weight of things I get, and sometimes I get/find zero. So, net gain for they.
So, everything comes for free, or almost $0, Just some extra time.
The only expense I have made was in some instruments and tools, like testers and scope, and some materials.
