I also have an Ensonic and I am trying to connect it to my SC-55 using the gameport. However even if I switch the device to Out instead of Synth it keeps pushing sound through the midi emulation instead of the SC-55.

From my pov I tried all the combinations of input/output with the cables, and all the interfaces seem to be connected and worked correctly.

I am trying on a W99 PII machine. When I use the W10 machine with dosbox the SC-55 works flawlessly.

Any idea I could try out is appreciated

We need more information.

Which Ensoniq card are you using?

What are you using to select between synth and device output?

You say all interfaces and connections look good. Are you seeing MIDI input activity on the SC-55?

The gameport/MIDI cable only passes serial data. You need to connect the SC-55's audio output to the speakers, headphones, or a Line-In of a soundcard.
