When copying a file with Ctrl-C, I press it at least 3 times to make sure the keypress wasn't missed. I still haven't got rid of this habit.

Browser tab hoarding.

I start fresh religiously, Easter and Christmas.
Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.
Closing everything except Explorer and Systray before burning a CD 😀
Tabbed browsing IE6 style (= open 6 pages - a good amount for 32 MB when they have lots of tiny pictures -, wait for them to load, disconnect from dialup and repeat once you've read everything and printed the most interesting ones)
Buying 64 MB of PC133 from the local store and getting it, after almost a week, in a 2-part cardboard box, plain and unbranded but like a wannabe-luxury pen or watch (this was in 2003ish)
Reinstalling winblows after setting the scaling to 500% or something with that neat "drag the ruler" control
Computer magazines
Corollary - the programs on the bundled CDs (I think the only malware are I've ever got outside of Blaster was from one of those, and it was RedV EasyInstall)

Classic IMs in general, the kind that's not primarily server side and are at large not designed for groups/channels and certainly not for being an instagram or bitcoin wallet wannabe (you know which one it is)
Ah, right, newsgroups (with Outlook Express of course), which excel at the "accumulate and read offline" strategy!
What is that one computer habit that you got rid of
...getting rid of the old computers...😉
Installing anti virus and a software firewall on my main web browsing PC.
Theres so many things I use to do that I dont.
RAM cleaners on Win98, running apps as services on Win2k and XP, defragging drives and cleaning up temp files...
The list is endless.
The main thing Ive noticed I dont do anymore is make sure the system I buy/build has future expansion room...
I used to only ever consider full ATX boards because of the PCI, these days with APUs as powerful as they are I dont even look for one PCIe slot on some systems.
But having said that I buy computers for spercific use cases now, so being all things for all men isnt important now. Its been a very long time since I only had one computer to use.
Using a mouse holster... though I guess that was a barely established habit before it became pointless, as the mouse was required all the time. Maybe did it for a couple of years, would have been longer if I had got one earlier I think.

I don't store movies, series or music locally anymore. Now that gigabit Internet is the norm around here and everything is available online a few clicks away I just don't see the point. I used to have gigantic DVD collections, 5-10 hard drives filled with goodies and god knows how many folders of music. Not anymore. It was necessary when my connection was bad but it's slow and inconvenient now.

I don't think I'd ever drop that habit, i actually like DVD's too
in practice the idea of needing a local backup is based on the idea that whatever you want isn't available - either because the streaming service doesn't make it available or because (ie you backup in cloud) the facility or internet itself isn't available.
local backups/dvds etc are therefore only useful if the media isn't available online (quite a lot of media isn't) or you encounter a scenario where electricity is available but the internet isn't!
I'd add another - streaming services can edit/censor media for all kinds of reasons (just like broadcast used to), and so there is some value in having an inviolate original
I'm thinking not just in terms of censorship but also like with star wars original trilogy - where extensions and additions are made post production essentially altering the original, a process that i think might become the norm for lots of movies and other media over time (like it is with games!)
Use internet with my desktop computers, they are all offline. I have a HEALTHY collection of DOS/Windows games and programs and music and old movies/series. My internet is mainly only in my cheap Xiaomi phone. 5G internet is dirtcheap and in "special occaision" I can hotspot. And I have one computer with Windows Tiny11 that I rarely use. All else are 7/XP or older stuff.
I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.

I agree with everything you wrote, I'm just too lazy to bother with local backup and drive/disc/folder management. I used to do it a ton and I'm very tired of it so unless the legality of watching content online changes drastically I'm not going to bother with it ever again.
Online stuff can always dissapear to oblivion. I have all my favorite stuff in multiple hard drives and usb sticks to enjoy all my life. Ok, I think I can redownload X-Files/House.M.D but I am not sure about Mathew Perrys Go On and Odd Couple. And do not start with that totally deleting episodes in series were there in blackface.

Meticulously organizing the start menu (or using it at all).
To a lesser extent I'm also not as crazy about perfect order on my desktop, and in my hard drive folders.

Usually all my life is in Windows Desktop. Real folders and links. Hate those My Documents noncence.
