Hi Guy's I am having a problem implementing the PII4X settings. I try to run the winp2x4.exe and I get the message "this is not an award bios" I am led to believe that running this will implement the PC Bridge and and the Secondary Bus maser On the boot up screen, it says PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.0

see attached screenshot of device manager

Any help would be most apreciated

this is probably some crappy utility that came with certain mainboards. you can use this version for win95: http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=2 … &menustate=77,0
or this latest one: http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=2 … &menustate=77,0

for the latter, i'm not actually sure where that file originates from, because i went through intel's old download pages and this is not the version that they offered. the one i have is slightly older than this, listing a win XP beta instead of RTM.

Going by what is on the RetroWeb you appear to already have the most up to date BIOS. The Device Manager screenshot indicates an uninstalled driver, which isn't something I would expect to be solved with a BIOS update.

After watching many YouTube videos about older computer hardware, YouTube began recommending videos about trains - are they trying to tell me something?

So you have 2 ide channels on the chipset, and apparently your soundblaster has a 3rd channel.

The most likely explanation is that they both want irq14/15. I forget which. Probably 15.

Disable one.

Then think about your chipset drivers
