Hello,
I'm about to adapt and live with this issue but maybe there is some useful idea from you guys to try. This place is where knowledge is

-I bought a few weeks ago a PC with a FIC PVT-486 motherboard and a 520mb hard drive
-Wanted to have more space so I got a 2gb CF from ALI ,and a CF adapter with bracket
-I was doing disk cloning using norton ghost, computer open keyboard on top. Time for supper.
-Came back and the computer was off. What?... didn't want to turn back on... panic
-I disconected everthing waited a few minutes and could power it on, but the 2 gb cf was dead. Well i had another 8gb cf , a waste but whatever.
-The autotdetect feature detected both the HDD and the CF , all good, but after exiting bios menu in the bios boot secuence I got Hard disk fail error (80) and after pressing f1 couldn't boot into DOS
- But if I removed the CF card no problem whatsoever. Working in DOS
- Tried with HDD and another CF and from a working 386 same problem
- Tried with both CF from the working 386 same problem
- Tried with only one CF and no HDD and no problem
- Tried with 2 HDD and same problem
- Did the same tests with another ISA controller, same behavior. for now I'm using a PT-606G controller.

So now it only works with one hard drive connected but if I plug a second one (CF or HDD) the system will do the memory test , throw a Hard disk fail error (80) and wont' boot.

Any idead of what could it be? a condenser somewhere? , damaged bios ?
