Hi, I have an old Intel 386/25 and it won't boot off of the hard drive. It recognises it fine when using a floppy but I can't get it to boot off of it.
It's a conner 250mb hard drive cp30254h.
I have used the parameters I found online that keep it under the 1024 cylinder limit
Cylinders 895
Heads 10
Sectors 55.
Which fdisk fine and I can copy stuff just fine. However when trying to boot it just asks for a floppy.
I have phoenix bios ver 1.00 which I have used type 48 and manually entered the parameters.
There is no option for boot sequence.
I have a cd rom as a slave which works ok too when used with the windows 98 boot disk.
Any ideas anyone?

have you tried
fdisk /mbr
?

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

The drive native specs are 4 heads, 895-10-55 C-H-S. As listed in the 1995 Conner HD Spec pdf

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
