So, after some random reading on the interwebs, there was this little but alarming tidbit about SecuROM, which somehow implied it could damage/kill you computer, as in hardware.
North and south bridge failures was mentioned. And there was also some rumours floating about thrashing SSDs, but which seemed to be debunked(?), at least if you had enough regular memory (RAM) so that hdd cache was seldom used.
---> Anyone know more about SecuROM and its alleged hardware killing abilities ?
Motherboards in particular, but any related info to other computer parts getting permanently damaged is also welcome.
The Sims seemed to be a typical offender, as well as Oblivion.
I know of the regular issues/problems vs 'offending' programs/software and 'disappearing' CD drives etc, but not heard of any actual damage to the hardware parts before.
I have so far not been able to dig up any more info about this online (the mobo part), hence my fishing expedition here on Vogons.
