As for general DOS slowdown options, there is an obscure one that can be achieved with CM utility to set the CPU cache control to write-through. The disadvantage is that it only works in real mode or if JEMM is used in situations where EMS is needed.

or get a Nehemiah like you... What are you doing to get yours to run at 1.46ghz? Don't tell me you're running the FSB in the 160s on your P2-99, or are you playing with the multipliers in autoexec.bat on boot? I'm just finishing up my Nehemiah build and plan to underclock it to 900mhz (9 x 100) which is about the same as a PII 400.

I got it by setting the FSB to 133 MHz without overclocking the PCI bus, and then simply changing the CPU multiplier to 11.0x in AUTOEXEC.BAT on boot.

I was looking for primarily DOS gaming with some late 90s Win gaming. First my focus was on the P2-99, but reading few of the above posts on the FSB flexibility in P2B, a little confused now 😀

For dos both systems will act the same, the extra RAM or faster CPU aren't going to make any difference.
The TNT does have better backwards compatibility then the ATI Rage, so this would be my deciding factor.

If you want to include windows gaming, which makes sense as both computers are a bit wasted as a pure dos rig.
I find my P2 400 is a bit slow vs my P3 600Mhz Katmai which plays 9x era games just fine, anything that struggles is better on a faster XP rig anyway, eg GTA3
for Win9x I'd be replacing either video card anyway. 128MB Ram is fine, but upgrading to 256MB is a cheap upgrade if you really wanted.
So really, it's the CPU that would make my decision, and either go with the ZX with the P3 600 and focus on upgrading graphics card.
or if you really wanted the BX just budget for both upgrading the CPU and graphics.
