Has anybody tried building a PC inside an airline cart?
There's a couple of nice mesh grills at the front to put fans.

Looks more like something you'd build 5 or 6 PCs in.
Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

You could. Width-wise you could fit microatx motherboards horizontally. So I think you could fit 5 of these (allowing space for full height video cards). If you wanted full ATX then youd need to mount motherboard vertically which would drastically reduce the number you could fit in it. Possibly down to only 2.
Oh, actually, I happen to have an airline cart... let me try putting a motherboard and massive GPU in there:
These things are intended to retain/reflect heat internally just food for thought

Yes. That's very true! In-between the metal layers is a hard foam. I know this because I have two of these full-size airline carts and I cut them in half to make it look like I have 4:
So, in my case, the backs are completely open. They back against a wall though, so would certainly need to think about ventilation.
BTW, they will be painted white eventually.
Least they will have decent sound insulation could mount the boards to the sides or shelves the more loose item the more the carts themselves will rattle like they do on airplanes 😀

Yeah, I didn't really buy these with usage as a computer case in mind. I got them just because they are different to the usual IKEA furniture most people have, and it's a nod towards my fascination with aviation. I intended to make drawers for them, but haven't got around to it yet.
However, I am considering putting a PC in it now just because I want to free space on the worktop above where my current XP PC is:
I am thinking of switching from a low profile 750 Ti to a full size card. Somewhere in the high end of nVidia 900 series. A full size case will dominate that worktop.
Interesting project.
Regarding the ventilation, have you thought about putting a cooler in the lower gridded area to get air from outside ant another one at the top to move the air from inside to outside?
This way that air would circulate.

Ideally I want most of this cart to be used for storage. Was just thinking of having a 4.1 amplifier for speakers plus the PC in there at the top, and drawers below.
There is just over 60mm gap between the cart and the worktop. Was thinking I could put four 60mm fans at the back to suck air from the rear and blow it out the front top.

If you take your tape measure out to some discount stores, dollar stores, harbor freight type places, you might well find some deep trays, shallow bins or baskets that have a lip that hold on those rails.
Edit: Just remembered you seem to be in UK, so Poundland, Wilko, ummm weird shit they pile in the middle in Aldi ... ??? IDK been a while since I was last there.

Thanks. That's a good idea. I will look.
