My i486DX2 66 build is working great and all overall though I have an issue with getting the joystick to work as it should. The thing is that I have a sound blaster 16 isa ct2230 and a vlb IO controller card which has a gameport too. I suppose there is a conflict between the two and one of them has to be disabled. The question is which jumper to disable which card’s gameport.

It may be easier to disable the one on the Sound Blaster since the documentation for your I/O card is incomplete... but if you have a multimeter you may be able to track down which of the unidentified jumpers on the IO card is connected to the KA558 chip (just below the com2 connector). 99.9% of the time that is the chip that controls the gameport input.

I'm not sure if there is any benefit to using your joystick on one card or the other... probably not.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Disabling the joystick function on the sound blaster worked. I am now able to use the joystick in my DOS games.

I tested it with X-Wing, Tie Fighter and Descent so now it is a great total success! 😁
