Hi,

While back I got an lung hwa sk803 (opti 82c924) card. Inspection reveals no damage.
Card gets detected by 98se. Installed the drivers for mad16 (accidentally) and that gave me no sound. No exclamation marks, even soundman launched.
Then I tried the ones from TRW. Now add new hardware tool complains that the .inf file doesn't have hardware drivers. And now on the previous drivers mpu has conflict issues with the usb hub?

Board is an msi ms 6163 pro, no extra stuff besides gpu in agp and the sound card.

I am out of ideas with this card. Maybe someone here will know what's wrong?

Maybe try out unisound in dos?
The windows 98 drivers I recall for the opti 924 / 930 weren't good? It's better for dos / win 3.1 / win 95

This should be PnP card but Win9x is not super smart about resource allocation - try removing the USB IRQ from PnP pool in BIOS maybe? Or disable USB if you are not using it.
All these OPTi cards have 2 modes of operation: WSS and SB Pro. Windows driver should default to WSS but try some DOS config tools for OPTi MAD16. See if you can set it to SB Pro, perhaps with manual IRQ/DMA selection, and test it. If it's still dead then I guess the chip is toast...

Note, some of these have jumpers to bypass the audio amp and get a line-out mode. That is usually much less noisy if you have external amp or powered speakers. If somebody removed these jumpers completly then the audio jack will be disconnected.

Okay so I used the 2019 drivers before the unisound and that seems to work. I get sound from the opti. I think it must be initialized every time you use it.
Weird
