BSOD 0x7B fix applies to:
2K (?), XP, VISTA, 7
If you're reading this you probably have an install of windows that blue screens 0x7B because you run it on unoriginal hardware. So let's get started!
Registry file "SYSTEM"
pciide.reg file from the zip folder (see attachments)
working install of windows with regedit
SATA operation set to IDE mode

Before you begin using REGEDIT, make a backup of the patient's registry!
REGISTRY SAVES AS YOU MODIFY IT!!!!

Step 1:
Lauch REGEDIT.EXE from the good installation of windows
Step 2:
Click on HKEY LOCAL MACHINE
Step 3:
Click file > load registry hive > point to location of SYSTEM file (usually DRIVE:\Windows\Sytem32\config)
Step 4:
When prompted to type key name
"_REMOTE_SYSTEM" (without quotation marks)
Step 5:
Click on your newly created key
Click file > Import
Step 6:
Point to the directory in which pciide.reg was downloaded and import the key.
Now you should get a popup that the import was successful
Step 7:
Unload registry hive and you are done!

If everything went correctly now you should be able to enjoy whatever windows was installed on that drive.
There are tutorials on how to do this but they all say you need winPE/RE. Probably this was posted somewhere here ealier and I didn't notice it.
