Since the last major version of DOSBox (0.74, released in 2010) there has been several code changes in the project:
http://source.dosbox.com/dosboxsvn.txt

It's still planned to release a new major version someday?

Yes! A lot of changes would make sense to give to the general public in the form of a release.

However, in order to prevent speculation on dates and other things, I will close this topic.
