I recently got a pair of Gateway Solo 2300 laptops. Were sold as parts, both were missing RAM. One's in really nice shape and just needed RAM. One has a dead CPU and a beat up shell.
One had a floppy drive but I would really like to have an optical drive for them. I've tried searching all over online for them. Can find them for earlier models.

There are old support posts which say the original drive was a MATSUSHITA (PANASONIC) UJDA110L (20x speed) though the UJDA150L (24x speed) may also be suitable

I can find that specific drive but not with the special Gateway enclosure it's made for.

It uses a nonstandard plug and spacing which is different from Gateway models from a year earlier and a year later.
