I added a second Sata to ide adapter (the startech one) as a master on the second ide controller in line with a LG ide DVD drive and now I have drive write protection errors (bluescreen message), plain freezes and sometimes no drives on bootup in Windows.
I could do a fresh Windows install without any problems, but in Windows i can just read files (play games).
Sometimes driver or game installers can finish, but that depends on the installer. Moving files around is impossible, because anything over a few megabytes will freeze the machine.
It is still booting after 100+ crashes and never finding any corrupted data other than maybe the one file that was just written at that moment.

I did switch the power supply to a known good one and I did check the board for bad caps, but they do not look or measure bad at all. They used Nichicon on the input side (filter and bulk) and the other caps on the chip side are some unknown brand (I would doubt it's total crap)

Id like to hear some input before I order a bag of new caps for 30$.
