Hi all,

I just got a ASUS P2B-VM Fujitsu-Siemens OEM version, with onboard ESS-Solo1 onboard, and no onboard video.

When I first powered it up, it worked fine, after a short time I got a "Keyboard is locked out - Unlock the key" message at boot (just afted HDD detecting)

Theres nothing connected to the keylock pins on the front pannel header.

Previus owner flashed the BIOS to 1014 beta 3 from ASUS site.

I'm unsure if thats the right BIOS for this board, there's no option to disable the onboard soundcard.

There's a "SB-Link" header on the mainboard, so disabling the onboard sound should be possible?

I tried the BIOS on the retroweb, same result.

If I put 5Volt on the keylock header pin (whit a 10K resistor in parallel) it does unlock the keyboard, but that's not the right way to fix it.

Measuring the keylock header pin, gives 2-300 mV, where as the power and reset pins gives 5V (or was it 3.3V) I'd expect the keylock pin to show about the same.

I do have a board view schematic of the regular P2B, but the keylock ciurcit don't look to be the same 🙁

Anyone got an idear on what's wrong?

Update:
Unlike the regular P2B, the P2B-VM does have an external pull-up resistor (R5, 10KOhm), that had decided to go open, so that's one problem solved 😀

Great ! Good work.

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
