Most of the Soundfont discussions are around FPS comparisons like Doom or Duke Nukem. Is there information out there which General Midi fonts are the best for point and click adventures? I mean you wight not want to have so much boom in the sound. I found one relatively big one from Fatboy which is aiming on a wholesome audio experience.

Any recommendations?

Simon the Sorcerer 2 for example sounds very good on a MT32 sounding soundfont. MT32 itself, according to the internet, is missing some sound elements which why General Midi is the recommended option.

For most adventures you will want to use MUNT for MT-32 games, or the Nuked emulator for SC-55 games. If you prefer soundfonts, Roland SC-55 faithful ones like "Deemster"'s are good, otherwise it's more a case of experimenting and finding something you enjoy for GM music. Most (but obviously not all) adventure games and General MIDI games focus on orchestral or acoustic instruments, so that would be something I'd keep an eye out for when searching for larger/more modern soundfonts.
