I just noticed that new projects are now available on the Linux From Scratch site. Linux from Scratch (LFS) and some of its variants have been around for a number of years. The projects provide books and other information to help users build entire Linux systems from source code.
The newly added projects are MLFS and GLFS. MLFS "is a variant of LFS that builds a system which is able to execute 32-bit binaries." GLFS "is based on BLFS and helps you install gaming support software like Steam or Wine on a new LFS or MLFS system." So given the nature of VOGONS, some of these new projects may be of interest to VOGONS users.
I have built LFS several times, and I have been working toward building a BLFS system. These are not projects for the technically incompetent or those who can't follow instructions. If you think you might want to try MLFS or GLFS, attempt an LFS build first. If you can succeed with LFS, then you get a sense of what you are in for with respect to any of the other more advanced LFS variants. New versions of LFS and BLFS usually are released at the beginning of March and September, so bleeding edge versions are due out shortly.
Good luck!
