My DOS machine (Pentium II 333Mhz, ASUS P2B mainboard) uses a compact Flash to IDE adapter as hard disk.

If I use an older SanDisk Extreme Pro with 32GB as CF card, everything works fine, if I insert a newer SanDisk Extreme Pro with also 32GB into the adapter, the BIOS does not detect a hard disk.

Does anyone know what could be the reason?

Does the newer SanDisk Extreme Pro work in a USB adapter?

Does the newer SanDisk Extreme Pro report more than 65535 cylinders ? Some BIOS have trouble with that and it most often occurs in storage devices >= 32GB.

I do recall that at one point the CF interface was expanded to support larger cards ... although I *think* 32G
is big enough to need the new... but perhaps there have been other revisions as well, and the new CF uses them...

Agree with douglar .. make sure the newer card works in other(perhaps newer) equipment.

Yes, it works perfectly well in any of my USB adapters. WIll check, how many cylinders it reports...
