Hi guys,

i just want one universal question out of the way: is there an EAX sound card that really does transfer a Multi(!)Channel signal with applied EAX effects (not passthrough!) via Coax or Toslink?

Reason for asking: I'm looking for an EAX sound card for an XP build because i really do miss this stuff. But i want to use it with my home theater to get absolutely everything. Thing is tho- my current AV doesn't have analog inputs for each channel, the only options would be Coax or Toslink. Now.. i made a bit of research, but atm it seems, that the EAX sound cards only transfered Stereo (!) signals via Coax and Toslink and/or passthrough only, so no EAX effects applied.

Is this a general rule or are there some known exceptions? PCI and PCI-E should both be possible on my side...

Or was the "Creative Home Theater Connect DTS-610" device the only option, that was ever available for that?

Ty!

There is the Creative DTS Connect pack but looks like it only supports Windows 10 with the X-Fi Titanium cards:

Still looking though.

Edit: that pack works for Windows 7-10. Guessing it would work on 11 as well.

Does an X-Fi with the Dolby Digital Live or DTS encoder installed not do this? It will take multi channel audio and make it work on a receiver over Coaxial or TOS link.

The encoder intercepts all audio output, and encodes it to a digital format. It's not doing just pass through.

Look up the Daniel_K "SB X-Fi Series Support Pack 5.0"

Shows it has the DTS Connect Pack and works for XP.

The latest version mentions needing a license. However, I remember the first packs came under fire because they enabled it for all X-Fi cards.

I have an Auzentech Prelude that included it as a bundled thing. So I'm not sure what happens with the latest pack on a non-bundled card.
