so guys, I am back on that machine! it is a model 56 486SLC2

things I did and noticed
- internal 500MB SCSI dirve working just fine! (DOS,OS/2 2.1/3.0/ WIN95 already working)
- external 2000MB SCSI drive also working fine.
- external 5,25" 360KB just working fine
- 10/100Mbit mca network card is fine in dos , has issues is win95 (perhaps the wrong driver)
- covox as scratching issues*

I am not sure if the issue described above is the same for the LPT-Sounddevice. It's pretty clear that there is an issue on the sound-quality
and it seems that there is a connection between the video output and the noises. so what should I do? perhaps getting an MCA soundcard
will solve that, but these are very rare and expensive.

Upgrade.

My old but good/loud COVOX tend to have sweeping noises when used on PS/2 ...the new one is far less loud but does not make those sweeping noises.

There are a number of modern replica projects both for Adlib and Sound Blaster MCA cards.

You can search for those projects here on Vogons. You'll find info on the resellers in the respective threads.

Good luck!

Thank you, but most of them are very expensive and do have issues with my machine PS/2 56 486-slc.

I have created replicas of the famous ChipChat sound card, which is compatible to the Sound Blaster (Pro) standard, offers a wavetable header and works reliably even on the fastest Micro Channel machines.

Does your card have a compatibility matrix? does it fully work with a Model 56 486-slc2 ?

The card is known to be the most compatible for any from the slowest to fastest systems.
I never received any feedback from other users that it did not work.
I got it working on all of my systems of different types:
8573 386sx-16
8573 with Kingston MCMaster and 5x86-133
8580 386DX-20
8580 with BlueLightning 66 upgrade
9577 Lacuna with 486DX2-66
9577 Lacuna with 5x86-133
8595 Complex Type 1 "J" 486DX-25
8595 Complex Type 2 "H" and "L" 486SX-25 and 486DX2-50
8595 Complex Type 4 "Q" Pentium 66
8595 Complex Type 4 "Y" Pentium 90
9595 Complex Type 4 "Turbo-Y" Pentium 200 MMX

So yes, I bet it will work in a Model 56 too.

Does not ship to germany..but thanks for the suggestions. There are other sellers that do offer shipping to germany but then such a LPT card would cost nearly as much as the ess-mca sound card...so actual no option for me.

If you want the single card, I can buy it for the super high offer from the seller for $5 + $7 shipping +tax and then ship it to you for that + whatever shipping to you is.

I don't have any way to test it beforehand as I don't own any machines with MCA slots.

I'll try to figure out what discounted shipping cost would be. Quick look at USPS shows a possibly stupid $31.15 retail pricing.

That would be indeed very helpful., thank you!
I am checking out the best way is to ship it to germany. there should be no "zoll" because it's below 150 Euros.
