Hey everyone,

I'm facing an issue with my Compaq N800w laptop which has an ATI Radeon 9000 (ATI Mobility FireGL 9000) graphics card. I have multiple drivers from different sources, including the official one from 2003, which works well but is quite outdated. It installs OpenGL 1.3 or 1.4.

However, none of the other drivers upgrade the OpenGL subsystem, and I'm stuck with OpenGL 1.1. I've tried using ATI Omega 6.5, but it didn't improve the OpenGL version.

Is there any way to fix this? Maybe by replacing DLL files or through some other method? Here are my graphics card details: ati2mtag_M9, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4C66&SUBSYS_00570E11.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Okay, case solved in some way. I found another official driver from HP dated September 2004, and it also installs OpenGL support. This time it's good, Doom 3 without visual artifacts and NWN won't freeze at some point. I can live with it, but it's still a mystery why other drivers won't install OGL properly.

You can use newer drivers also, just use ati mobility modder: http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=1585
Quick internet search cave this driver link, try https://deviceinbox.com/drivers/387-ati-mobil … adeon-x600.html

Sometimes you can just change/replace the OpenGL DLL file to the newer version @ install or later, same goes with D3D, just use same DX version of the driver. 6.14.xxxx. OpenGL file version beginning should be the same 6.14.xxxx like driver 6.14, atioglxx.dl_ (atioglxx.dll) is the file name for OpenGL file that driver link i shared before, driver should also work.

I'm wondering if by other drivers you mean drivers that went through ms whql but didn't have the ogl icd included. Check those driver files and see if it is or not.

Maybe i wasn't clear enough. I mean i've got two drivers from HP that properly install OGL into system, while other (other mobility drivers or desktop drivers modded for mobility card) won't properly add ogl support and i'm stuck with 1.1
