VRMs for SECC2 Xeons?

I have an MS440GX motherboard with dual Pentium II/III SECC2 Xeons that came without a VRM. I found a number of VRMs on eBay that appear to have the form factor that matches the socket on the board.

Are these mostly interchangeable? I've found a few that come with the entire Xeon but they are more expensive, and I don't need the extra Pentium, just the VRM.

Thanks!

as a general rule of thumb; the simple looking VRMs you find are generally for ppro. The more stuff on the board, the more likely its for pentium 2/3

i'm fairly certain this is a good deal: https://www.ebay.com/itm/116337345291

I also have a MS440GX and the VRM you should get is an Intel 8.3 deic vrm, I found https://www.walmart.com/ip/Intel-8-3-DEIC9851 … -602/1729668082 and https://se.stockinthechannel.com/Product/-nte … -C-VRM/10186633, I got one from https://shop.ultratec.co.uk/product/697701-602 in 2020 for GBP 22.20 all in

What BIOS does your board have? I have BIOS 4M4SG0X0.86E.0050.P20 07/02/1999 which is the latest released, but rumour has it there is a later BIOS that supports Cascades CPUs, see Re: Finding a Gateway OEM BIOS for Intel MS440GX.

the issue on ebay is; nobody advertises the modules to be 'Intel 8.3 deic vrm'. 95 times out of 100, you are going to need to eyeball it, unless you have a huge library of OEM part numbers.

I wouldnt mind a few pictures of your build. ^.^

I will need to go check. I am really excited that there is a community that has these boards. When I first got it years ago for a build there was no Retro Web and I couldn't find much useful information online at all. The BIOS I have on there now seems to be generic Intel (no OEM branding) and I've found it to be limiting. The board is cool, and it certainly works, but it's extremely picky about what hardware it works with.

*sigh* Yeah.

As far as pics, I am running it now with one Xeon cartridge and a terminator but I will share some pics once I get the second Xeon installed and get the cooling apparatus assembled.

OK, but what version is it? You could run my SIV utility and it should report it, it's also on the [Machine] panel, below is what SIV reports for my MS440GX.
