Hey guys, I've had a weird issue with my ASRock K8 Combo-Z motherboard that I've been largely ignoring but not particularly fond on.

Motherboard:

I normally turn the power supply off at the power supply when my system is not in use. On this one board, as soon as I turn on the PSU power, the motherboard turns on briefly and then immediately back off again. I can see this through hearing what sounds like a relay click on and off, and the CPU fan turns on ever so briefly. This occurs with 3 different power supplies so I'm pretty sure it's the board.

Any ideas what could cause this? I have NOT recapped the board yet, but the board seems stable otherwise and has run for many hours without issues.

Any suggestions for how to address this short power cycling issue? I don't really like the idea of the wear it could be putting on both the PSU And motherboard from these short bursts.

I have a few boards that do the same if left unpowered for even a short while (yes one is an AMD type). It can be annoying but do not think it does any harm.
Have not found a solution yet (tried diff bios settings) and am fairly sure it has to do with how those specific boards handle the 5VSB for system monitoring and soft power on....

Hate posting a reply and then have to edit it because it made no sense 😁 First computer was an IBM 3270 workstation with CGA monitor. Stuff: https://archive.org/details/@horun
