I recently picked up a Labway A111-810 ESS ES1868F card. It seems to be working and sounding great for most things I've tried - but when running the duke3d soundblaster setup, the center, left and right channel tests all sound like they are panned dead center. Does anyone know why this might be? Could there be a jumper setting needed? This card has some jumpers I haven't found documentation for.. it's a slightly different card than those I've found manuals for. So this may be an unrelated question - but if anyone has insight to what these jumper settings change that would also be great!

What type of Sound Blaster card are you configuring in Duke3d's setup ?

You should be using Sound Blaster Pro.

The only option in my setup.exe is soundblaster. The fact that you can select mono or stereo after choosing 'soundblaster' leads me to believe that the one menu item is used for both.. unless there's a different version out there than the one I have?

Once you choose Sound Blaster, there should be a type option. You must choose Sound Blaster Pro (with your sound card), or you will get either mono or no sound.

Ah right, I distractedly forgot that I have done this process - I just repeated it and no matter which type I pick I do not hear any stereo separation. I appreciate the screenshots though!

Does stereo separation work in any other program? (If yes, it looks like an incompatibility between Duke3D and the card, il no, it likely is a hardware issue) Does stereo separation work for OPL3 music? (If yes, potential hardware issues are located close to the DAC).

Also, what is the card connected to in terms of audio amplifier/speakers/headphones ?

Are any adapters/converters used and are they stereo ?

Turns out a headphone splitter I was using to go from my sound canvas to my speakers and headphones was summing the signal to mono. So problem solved and completely unrelated to the card. This was a case of "Hey while I'm in here changing out my soundcard why not ALSO change some cabling at the same time and make for a troubleshooting red herring!"

Thanks again for the friendly tips and advice!

Glad you got it to work.
