Hi everyone,
I am new in the forum but a long term reader on various retro topics. My name is Ben and I'm from Stuttgart / Germany (38 years old).
Right now I've built a system using following components:
- ASUS P3B-F Rev. 1.04
- 384MB PC133
- PIII 700 @ 933 MHz
- MSI 6905 V2.1 Slotket + Intel Boxed Cooler
- ELSA Geforce 2 MX
- SB128 PCI
- 40GB Seagate IDE HDD
The system runs great in an oldschool beige midi tower with a floppy drive and two old optical drives 😀 I am dual booting Win98SE and Win XP SP1 for various retro activities.
Regarding gaming I really like Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2, Jagged Aliiance, Diablo, Age of Empires, DOS Jump and Runs etc
The retro rig even runs Far Cry on 800x600 low 😀
BUT: as you may have guessed I'm intrigued having the ultimate BX system running a Tualatin. I have two 1266/512 and one 1133/512 here already.
I ordered the korean PCB adapter off eBay and tried soldering to the CPU which went fine by itself (I found a schematic picture here in the forum and verified all connections via multimeter) but it didn't post.
I tried setting FSB and Vcore on the slotket - nothing, tried all auto / CPU define - nothing.
UNFORTUNATELY I then decided to unsolder the adapter which is quiet challenging and to be honest, it did not work very well.
So my thought now is: either mod CPU and Slotket via the usual and known mods (isolate pins, bridges), or find a suitable "out of the box" adapter. TBH I noticed I don't want to mod destructively retro hardware as I felt very uncomfortable yesterday de-soldering pins from the CPU.
So now I search for an PowerLeap PL-ip3/T Rev 2.0 or an Upgradeware Slot T Adapter. Anyone in here willing to sell? 😀
Best regards
Ben
