No matter what I do when I run the setupsa utility in pure dos or Windows 99 DOS mode I’m getting SB check failed and FM check freezes the computer.

SETYMF reports no PNP ISA card and so does Unisound.
I’ve attached pics of my setup. Sound works great in Windows 98 applications. I attached screenshots as a link since my iPhone tries to attach them in too large of a file size so sorry about that.

So changing it to DMA 0 then DMA 1 in bios and setting IRQ to 7 (should not have been any conflicts since all serial and parallel ports are disabled) works for WSS and SB tests in DOS! However FM test does nothing. Not sure how to even try and fix this one?

That is a strange problem, FM should be the one thing that shouldn't fight back...

Laptops are special however as far as YMF71x card goes, allowing hardware specific configuration and you may have to use drivers that were originally provided with the laptop for things to work. Since SETYMF didn't find the chip as is, there's funstuff being done for sure. If you use the /FORCEPNP option, are you able to do anything at all in SETYMF or it will error out in some ways ?

It does somehow appear I got the FM to just magically work after a reboot!
