The 3 body problems cannot be solved, neither for future quantum computers, even for the remainder of the universe. The Proton 2D is circling a planet and stepping back to the quantum size in 11 dimensions.

Yes, but it's also on RyZen, there's even more waste 😀

that's exactly what i thought! Though impressed it is up and running, it unfortunately is an example of Combinations of hardware/software that you don't like

still, credit to OP for creating the monster 😀

Just a hobby. The newer the machine, the older the operating system. It works fine under XP and Win11.

Have you run into many compatibility issues? if so which games?

Yes this is massive overkill, but on the otherhand if you only have space for 1 PC something like this stats to makes a lot of sense.

I'm interested in these two adapters/cables.
Can you show pictures what exact models these are?
I've had mixed results with a PCIe to PCI converter in the past not knowing if it was the adapters or the boards fault. Sometimes it worked, sometimes not (aim was to bring USB3-PCIe card into older PC). There were other models of these converters but never could convince myself to buy one as it's mostly a gamble to me.
How does the second one work? AFAIK there are no "USB3 to SATA" adapters possible, so I'd guess it is more of a "SATA to USB3" cable?
Would be interested in a "USB3 to SATA" solution, though 😉.

The 1-socket RyZen is between the power supply and the HDD bay, the 2-socket FX is above the RAM, and can be placed anywhere due to the long cable.

USB C/USB3 cable , detachable USB-C from USB3-A : https://cdn.rios.hu/dl/upc/2021-03/23/225621_ … xd_wdssd3dp.jpg
+ also use two types USB3 to SATA also of the adapters +of the power supplies, I haven't taken pictures of them yet. And at home I bought a Delock (with power supply), -
https://cdn.rios.hu/dl/upc/2020-11/03/225621_ … dusb3tosata.jpg
- it works with an 8TB 3.5" HDD.

All of them work perfectly.

Again, it's all about point of view...
I had the other version in mind, that is to connect a PCIe card into a PCI slot.
Of course you need the other way. So please excuse my request!

I don't know if PCI to PCIe exists. It might not be enough in terms of MB/sec. But nothing is impossible, Chinese engineers have also produced converters that Westerners might have only thought of by chance, and meanwhile they are already available for purchase...

That's exactly the one I already have. It works but not on all boards and not with all PCIe cards.
Don't know where the problem lies if it doesn't work, but manufacturer instructions say it may not always work...
There are others around like https://www.ebay.com/itm/196277498357 with another bridge chip (PLX instead of Pericom) but I don't know if these do work any better.
That's why my hope was there's maybe some more experience. Anyways...

Under Win98 you don't need just the PCIe to PCI converter and then SBLive's own installer. Of course, installing Win98 on a modern machine is usually not easy, and there may be different problems depending on the machine.

XP: with the modded installer it's pretty problem-free - it recognizes everything on RyZen too, I can't write down the installer's name because I linked it once, but the moderator deleted it.

DOS: using SBEmu, VSBHDA, VSBHDASF. Supports SBLive, Audigy and motherboard sound cards.

How to use them can be found here on Vogons, in the appropriate topics.
A modern machine is quite fast under DOS:

But it's not a problem, because you can slow it down to XT, 286,486, Pentium...etc, with the CPUSpd program.

Can you go over the details of the SB emulation, how you got it to work with the AMD chipsets you used? I tried on a 785G and some others like a55 and it didn't work.

Can you run Sandra CPU and memory Benchmarks in 98 so I can compare directly?

I'd also love to see you Q3A timedemo and Phils Doom benchmark.

My i7 system is displaying a strange reduction in Doom performance from a core2 duo build with near identical specs. Everything 3d is faster is faster on the i7 though

Yes, I'll come back with the results. I'm installing a laptop now...then I'll run it.

The 3 body problems cannot be solved, neither for future quantum computers, even for the remainder of the universe. The Proton 2D is circling a planet and stepping back to the quantum size in 11 dimensions.
