Hello, wonderful community.

I'm trying to jumper a biostar 1433 rev5 for a Intel DX4 @ 100 Mhz but I find the manual a bit confusing.

https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/biosta … -1433uiv-ver.-5

I need to jumper for a 3V CPU but the table on page 10 gives me "3.3 - 3.6 voltage CPU" or "CPU Cyrix" or "for Voltage CPU"
Then on page 11 it talks about PCB revisions and I think it's still part of the voltage setup and talks about AMD 3V CPU support???

I jumperd the board like page 18 as a AMD 486DX2/DX4.

So how on earth do I set 3V. The manual clearly has support for a AMD DX4 and that's also a 3V cpu.

I'm just lost.

You jumper it for the 3.3-3.6v. They are really 3.3v cpu's not 3.0v

I used to be a system integrator it's strange how much info you lose over the years.

The system posts but dynamic drive overlay is big mad about it. I removed it with fdisk /mbr and configured the biggest drive in the bios list a 145 MB drive, and it boots into dos now.
Are there compatibility problems with dynamic drive overlay software with the DX4?

It try's and shows :starting dos. twice but that's about it.

What size HD are you trying to use ? You should try: set the BIOS to drive type 1 before running the DiskManager/EZ drive/etc disk overlay and boot straight from a floppy to install.

I used a old 8gig IDE harddisk, it was the smallest I have.

I tried a 1gig CF card today, and all went well, bios found the drive, dos installed without a problem, but when it's time to boot, it just hangs after the beep.

There is something speed related, with a DX2@66 it works fine. The only thing I got running with the DX4 was the biggest HDD setting in bios 145MB, that booted without any problem.

I will try type1 with the drive overlay software, but I have a feeling it's something else.
