I have a lot of USB DACs that I've collected over the last few years, mostly used with headphones (apartment living). The only issue is that almost all DACs sold in the last 10 years have been UAC 2.0, which Windows bafflingly had zero support for until 2017. I tend to do most of my gaming in XP or 7, and most of the recent DACs stopped coming with drivers for these old OSes. I'm curious to see if anyone has ever cooked up a driver for UAC 2.0 pre-1703. There were some paid solutions like Thesycon and XMOS, but in using the trial versions they will simply not detect my hardware. Not really 'universal' at all. As of right now this is the greatest impediment I have faced returning to old computers, I am very reliant on my current hardware, and UAC 1.0 stuff isn't common or cheap for anything decent.

I don't think so.

It might be possible to backport existing usbaudio2.sys back to XP using ntoskrnl_emu extender though, depending on the functions it depends on.
