Just paid $120 on ebay for Logitech ifeel mouse. Maybe too much but its brand new and i really wanted to try it.
Planning to use it for Black&White as im currently playing it, and i read it has great support. Also playing in Stereo3D so its nice to have full immersion on all fronts.

Is it this one ? (I got curious, never heard of it, and at that price ! 😬🤔)

I can think of no rational reason for you to buy one of these things

Good old Dan did not seem quite as enthusiastic though, heh...

Haha yes thats the one. I read that review as well. Just seems like a cool little gadget, plus i love playing games with feedback supoprt (wheel or joytstick), having a mouse with one intrigued me. Plus i love Black & White and looks like it has full support so im excited to try it.

I bought an external Iomega CDRW drive and was totally surprised. And a bit disappointed. I opened it to clean and found something I was NOT expecting...

I've never seen an external drive have it's external guts internal. I could still use this IN something, but it'd have to cut the last few inches off the case (or at LEAST the back). I want to use it in a black Lian-Li. I have a few builds in black PC7 and PC60 that have been waiting for such an appropriate drive.

Main Loadout (daily drivers):
Intel TE430VX, Pentium Sy022 (133), Cirrus Logic 5440, SB16 CT1740
ECS K7S5A, A-XP1600+, MSI R9550
ASUS M2N-E, A64X2-4600+, PNY GTX670, SB X-Fi Elite Pro
MSI Z690, Intel 12900K, MSI RTX3090, SB AE-7

Sorry, I'm feeling a bit dense... what is wrong with it?

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

It has a USB interface/power connector as part of the casing. I didn't take a picture next to a "regular" drive, but this thing is LONG.

I have yet to test the drive itself. It looks pretty clean compared so some of the stuff I've found. It'll just need those extra inches removed to make it usable in a PC

I don't get it. Why not just get a drive that was already meant to be used as internal drive?

Today's lot arrived.

- ASUS K7V - needs further troubleshooting - might have a corrupt BIOS (which wouldn't surprise me given the A7V, the 462 version, is NOTORIOUS for bad BIOS.)
- Biostar M7MKA - dead unfortunately, no POST, kind of shame since it had a C5 revision AMD 751 which allows SuperBypass
- Epox EP-BX3 - works, needs a cleaning and obviously recap (Hermei crap caps)
- Epox EP-61BXA-M - needs BIOS IC and recap
- ECS P6S5AT - no POST
- Soyo 6VBA133 - strange power issue that might be due to bad caps near ATX socket.
- Gigabyte BX2000 - works, needs cleaning and maybe recap, BIOS update since it does NOT like Coppermines as is.

GPU:
- Voodoo 3 2000 PCI 16MB - working great, adapted bracket from a beaten up ATI Xpert2000
- 3d Prophet II GTS PRO 64MB - also working, uses bracket from a MX440SE

Well, seems I have one of those Logitech iFeel, the kind that looks absolutely ordinary.
Mine is white, kinda like the Microsoft Intellimouse.

I'm also confused about this. I still feel like I'm not understanding something about why this is necessary.

There are tons of black IDE optical drives on ebay, sometimes even tested and working.

I got's me a "drive" for the ZX/Timex I got there.. Re: Bought these (retro) hardware today

It's just an era appropriate compact cassette player... a regular consumer audio one... Probably mid 70s design. Universal "datasettes" weren't really a thing until a few years into 80s though some machines had their own official one at launch. I know this one to be fairly rugged and fixable. It doesn't have one of the lightweight rivetted mechanisms of later ones which are a pig to sort out. I may also use it with my TRS-80 Color Computer 2 ... and if the board has the DIN socket footprint (Seen DIN on other versions) then I might hook it to a 5150 in BASIC mode for t3h lulz.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Hi all,

Manage to score 3 cool motherboards.

First, a DTK PIM-TURBO:

The attachment Pim-Turbo.jpg is no longer available

Also from DTK, AC1100-12 motherboard:

The attachment ac1100_12.jpg is no longer available

Beautiful XT class motherboards for the low price of 15€ each.

The last but not the least, a Aopen AP43:

The attachment AP43.jpg is no longer available

A late 486 motherboard, for the reasonable price of 30€. It had a couple of broken traces near the mounting holes. After restoring the traces it spring back to life.

Also working on cleaning the corroded 5170 model 2 motherboard:

The attachment IBM5170.jpg is no longer available

Slow and steady, removing the corroded ic's and cleaning the pads and traces, still only half the work completed....

Was looking for a good 478 board. So this happened:

The CPU was unknown and turned out to be a:

The attachment DSC_4826.JPG is no longer available

Hmm, weird combo. An expensive mainboard when it was released, but the CPU, not so much. At this clock speed, I would expect a lower FSB speed for overclocking headroom.

Edit: Never mind, overclocking should still be possible: https://www.anandtech.com/show/1112/5

Anyway, happy with it.

My 2.4/800 Northwood was never under 3.2 back in the day, and with the right voltage, 3.4 wasn't unobtainable ...

[Edit] think it succumbed to the "sudden Northwood death syndrome" eventually, though ..

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

What?! Sudden northwood death syndrome?!? I've have not heard of this yet, but it may have been what happened to one of mine. Never OC'd , but it wouldn't power-on one day and didn't work in other boards. I'll be looking it up later, but is there a cause or any preventative maintenance to we can do, or is it pretty random?

Sweet board, BTW. Looks like fun. I like the orange sockets, espeically the battery-holder. I loved when they were adding color to everything. My "modern" PC is 15 shades of black, 🤣

Electromigration. Apparently that's what happens when you push Northwoods (at least early ones, dunno if ALL of them were affected) past 1.7v I think. (which idk why but it sounds way too high IMO, that's a voltage I'd see on Coppermines.)

Nice catch, congrats!
The DFI LanParty edition had a lot of interesting pieces, both performance and design.
Too bad they fell to bigger giants like Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and ASRock.

Yes that's the plan. I'm somewhat obligatory now to find a Chieftec with side window. 😆

Bought these new old stock CD-ROMs. Unfortunately, I found out the TEAC has the silver panel afterward.
