ASUS CUSL2-C no IDE devices recognized

I got a ASUS CUSL-2 mainboard from eBay and tried to get it running for a Win98 Setup. But no IDE Device is recognized.

I tried to connect a DVD-RW IDE Drive and a 3,5" 160GB SATA HDD with a SATA-IDE Adapter.
I reset the BIOS
The HDD+Adapter and DVD worked fine on my Windows 11 machine with a IDE to USB Adapter.
Both set to Master and both connected to a seperate IDE Port on the Mainboard.
Tried it an Primary and Secondary IDE for just the DVD Drive.
Tried the external power source from the IDE to USB Adapter and conneting the devices to the mainboard.
BIOS Setting is Auto for all Primary and Secondary IDE devices.

Is it possible the controller is damaged? Are there any other things I could check?

Tried floppy?

Probe IDE connections, usually they go through resistance networks to southbridge.

I'd start looking for scratches with a magnifying glass, thoroughly.
Press down the southbridge to see if it makes any difference.
Then probe IDE connections, also, IDE pinout (like https://pinoutguide.com/HD/AtaInternal_pinout.shtml) to check if all signals are present.
Both dead are likely an odd event.

Thanks for your input. I recabled the whole machine and now everything seems to work just fine. I have no clue what blocked the IDE Ports.
