Anybody had experience installing a Buffalo HSP-16DR in a 286? The original use case was for upgrading PC-9801 systems native to Japan which don't have much use in the states.
This one has a 33MHz Cyrix SLC and matching 80387 FasMath installed with 66MHz crystal on board. The bottom has pins in a PLC68 configuration (I'll post photos later). The seller said he'd had buyers claim lick with it previously and suggested I post here to see if anyone is familiar.
I tried it on a Tandy 2500 XL which has the PLC68 socket, but I don't think the BIOS was up for that! 🤣 it just emitted a horrible tone, the same as it does when there's no CPU at all.
Anyway, I'm aware this doesn't magically make a full 486, but I am curious what this might be capable of in a system that would accommodate it other than a 9801.
