Glad to see VOGONS back up and accessible.

On a side note. I lurked on these forums for quite a few years before I finally signed up, often landing here whenever I was searching for info regarding old builds or games. I don't do social media, I deleted almost all my accounts years ago and primarily stick to forums. What can I say, I'm old school.

Yesterday was the first day I realized .... I check VOGONS multiple times per day and that I would genuinely miss it if and when it ever went offline. I may use multiple forums for specific topics, but VOGONS is currently the only one I'm active on.

So, yeah, it was nice to see if back up this morning. 🤣

Next time this happens you can go to #dosbox on irc.libera.chat for status updates

(There's also a #wikipedia channel on there which is where I go when there are problems with that site)

I had wondered if it was related to the linode outage, seems that it was.

As someone that works for an MSP/CSP/ISP that prides itself on clarity and transparency, it’s always disappointing to read poor RFO reports and to hear of poor customer service in relation to an outage or issue. Issues happen, but it’s how they are handled that makes the difference.

I too was devastated that VOGONS was offline and that was only 24hrs. I hope that those forum and the knowledge held within continues to be available indefinitely, and would like to think that should the need arise, the community could come together to find AND fund alternative hosting so long as external backups are available to restore from!

I know we are doing gods work here, but site going down isn't going to cost lives or anyone their livelihood.

I'm just glad it was an ISP issue, Just a case of waiting for them sort the issue.
Much better then been hacked and all the remedial work that involves.

Me too 😀!! I do not have any facebook or other social media accounts and the only forum that i am active on is vogons! It feels right at home here!

Yes, and WWII is over, the Beatles split up and McDonald's no longer has the Arch Deluxe on their menu, just in case you were not fully up to date on "current" events. 😀

More seriously, there was an outage for most of the day due to issues with the ISP. You might not have noticed if you have more of a life outside of vogons.org (and retro hardware/software) than I do (not hard to beat).

It happens to be a password for several things in Psycho Patrol R, and also in some of Deus Ex 1's keypads too.

No idea about the Mulan szechuan. Never heard of it. I do miss the Arch Deluxe.
