Hi folks, I recently picked up a 15" Dell (Sony) Trinitron (Model: D825HT or UltraScan 800HS) CRT monitor for cheap. The display is fantastic but it has a couple of odd issues: the -typically- yellow power-on button does not illuminate when the computer and monitor are both on, but the orange power saving light does when the monitor is on but the computer is not (as it's supposed to). A couple of the front panel adjustment controls also do not work properly. It's possible to turn the brightness up but not down, and I can rotate the screen clockwise but not counterclockwise. Has anyone else encountered these issues with an otherwise perfectly fine working CRT monitor? I haven't opened the case yet since it looks like it's a bit tricky. I was just wondering if anyone else has been able to fix similar issues. Thanks!

It seems like it is some bad solders on the front panel PCB, or maybe a bad socket connection (but there's also room for corroded/worn switches). In any case a trip to the inside of the monitor is necessary and it is often not straightforward to get access to things at the front. Often one will have to remove everything except the kinescope itself to get access to the front panel.

Well that's a bummer! I appreciate the reply though. I'll probably open it up and at least blow out any dust and debris that's accumulated in there.
