How'd you go with the output from the powershell?

It works really well, I still haven't actually replaced the specific CABs that are named `dummy.cab` in the source and copied and renamed to something else. Haven't noticed anything amiss without fixing that, but will probably hand modify the script to do that. But not sure it is entirely necessary, but kind of want the completeness.

It is so much faster than actually running the update CD, or running the installers. If only I could install IE 6 that way, since it takes the longest, but looking at that, it seems a lot more complex.

I'm sure it can be at least partially extracted the same way.

You might need to mod the script a bit and do it half manually.

Cat files, from memory are basically signature files for security/corruption checks. Which was all in its infancy back then. So it worked without any.

I had a quick look at ie6
The first problem is separating the NT and 9x portions.
Then it becomes simpler.
