Just wanted to share my excitement that I got my Rage Fury Maxx working, which was sitting in its box since I got it around 12 years ago.
I expected the worst reading about all the mainboard-pickyness but the only thing I had to do was install the VIA 4.43 driver package along with DirectX 7.0a.

Without the VIA driver I was getting a black screen with the windows hourglass and without DX7.0a (DirectX 6.1 was preinstalled with W98SE) my Direct3D acceleration was disabled.

Now it seems to be working fine even in AGP4x mode.
