Hello

I recently decided to do a complete refresh/reinstall of Windows 98se (in APM mode) on a formatted/blank hard drive and after everything has been said and done i can't help but notice something rather odd regarding the ps/2 mouse that i use. I seem to have this annoying input lag/response when clicking the mouse button at times (motion movement seems fine). For example if i right click on an icon and click on properties, sometimes the properties window won't appear - even if i have cleanly clicked on the option beforehand. Another more glaring example is if i go to an emulator, like Gens (Mega Drive emulator), and setup the controls for using a controller. When i go to redefine the keys, when i am actually clicking to allocate a key to a button, sometimes it take a couple of attempts to activate that button with a left mouse click, and even pressing the button on my game controller to complete the key allocation to said button on game controller.

I have tried using my spare mouse, and i get the same thing. Motherboard has recently been recapped as well (before my hardware card change and Windows 98se reinstall). I've installed the motherboard chipset drivers that came with the motherboard, along with the service pack updates for Windows 98se. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there anything in my BIOS settings that i need to look at/change that might be the reason behind all of this? What had started as a minor thing for me has started to become more noticable, so would appreciate any advice/help.

My hardware setup is:

FIC VA-503+ (with 128mb RAM)
PCI Voodoo 3itch (Voodoo 3 reproduction card)
PCI Ethernet
ISA MK1869 (ESS 1869 reproduction card)

Kind Regards

I have been testing this under DOS and this issue doesn't seem to happen within that environment. So i'm guessing some sort of driver related issue within Windows.
