Hi everybody,

While searching for a SCB-55 module, I acquired a couple of Charlie Lab Megabeat modules.

One of those modules (more precisely, a Megabeat Plus) included a (seemingly?) custom waveblaster module marked Charlie Lab GDB 8/40.

I wasn't able to find many informations about this module; this link does provide some insight:

http://www.media-market.net/catalog/sou ... 9cusk6dk0

Quoting:

-Sounds Roland GM / GS.
-Additional Sounds sampled by Charlie Lab with great drum kits
-8Mb. Sounds including 3Mb. only for electric guitars & Fuzz.
-40 Polyphonic Voices, larger-integrated sound cards, eg = Roland 24 Voices, Yamaha = 32 Voices

I'm also attaching a photo. Does anyone have additional informations about this module?

The attachment Charlie Lab GDB 8-40.jpg is no longer available

It is using a rebranded Dream SAM9722 chip on it and technically has up to 64 note polyphony but it depends on what effects etc. are going to be enabled. The sample ROM is 8MBytes in size and is not like the licensed Sound Canvas like set from Dream or like their CleanWave32 either.

Thanks for the feedback.

I guess than there is not much value in keeping it... I will probably resell it.

My friend, don't rush to sell. This artifact is very good. If you compare it with the original SCB-55 or with the SCB-7, it sounds more interesting, it's more bass. And in it, I still think that Roland is sewn up. I also have a daughter, only a newer revision, but their bank is the same (I also had one, I sold it to a friend), I compared the sound with my scb-7 and with X2GS SE, the original scb-7 plays more dryly.
