Why was this thing produced?

Model: KPQ-E99AC-10 (seems to be Mitsumi model number)

"SEGA" label and LED legend is printed on a sticker. I assume this was a OEM keyboard with this branding, but why?

That looks similar to (but newer and more low end) the Sega Teradrive keyboard. The Teradrive was a 286 PC with built-in Sega Megadrive.

Something tells me this was an nV1-period device.

It's also not quite the keyboard shipped with the Sega Saturn Netlink

Here's another keyboard of this model, from the same area, Nordic layout - but with Fujitsu branding, which makes much more sense.

Produced in 1995 according to the sticker, too.
