Hi folks,

With the original C&C, the only difference between the NOD and GDI disc was two .mix files, I believe MOVIES.MIX and GENERAL.MIX

Could anyone possiby confirm if it's the same for Red Alert? My copies have Windows 95 and DOS version on them, which I believe is standard, but hoping to verify that the disc as a whole is more or less the same, if possible.

Thanks

Yes it's the same but now movies.mix and general.mix are hiding inside main.mix

AFAIK, they're the same but "Counterstrike" and "Aftermath" have some different files (I mean, some files in MAIN.MIX were different of those included in the main game, and they were different between the two expansions).

I made a "mixed" Red Alert installation but in the end I had to put the expansions aside. Also, the expansion CDs had sound tracks that are not played in game, so there is no need to dump them (unless you want to hear them on your car).

The 2 expansions does make things a bit more tricky then the original C&C which had only 1.

If your wanting to play the game from the hard drive I've been using RA-HD for years for the dos version for LAN games. It does support the Win9x version but not sure how well.
